The airport hosted the fall Young Eagles Day sponsored by our local Experimental Aircraft Association chapter on Saturday 19 November 2016.
It was a bit of a windy day, but otherwise the weather was perfect for flying and there was an outstanding turnout. The airport Authority donated 189 gallons of 100LL fuel to the participating pilots and the airport staff helped keep the ramp running safe and smooth. The EAA Chapter 1220 pilots flew a total of 152 Young Eagles and they reached a milestone of flying their 5,000th Young Eagle during the event. Mr. Jim Murray was the pilot to fly the 5,000th Young Eagle and that same flight also resulted in him reaching the personal achievement of flying his 600th Young Eagle. The Pinecrest High School Air Force JROTC cadets once again did a great job helping with the registration and assisting with paperwork. We also had Boy Scout Troop 810 here for the day providing food and drinks, they had a very successful fund raiser and everyone had a great time.
